About us
Every brand born has a story to tell and mine just happened without any planning or promos. Growing up, I was best friends with my mom who is an entrepreneur and dressmaker, fascinated by the way she deftly tailored a variety of stuff from dresses to tote bags, for friends and family. Over the years, I’ve seen her collect leftover fabric from her tailoring unit saying every piece has potential to turn into something useful for someone someday. And she did turn these scraps of clothes into beautiful utilities, gifting them all away to the needy.
It was during the Covid-19 quarantine that I rekindled an interest which I had been nurturing right from childhood. Inspired by my mother, I started selling face masks and scrunchies made from her saved up bundle of fabrics on Instagram. To my surprise it became an instant hit. What started as a fun hobby turned into a delightful obsession and I happily forfeited holidays, outings with friends and even my sleep to fulfill the orders. Mom and I made thousands of scrunchies and face masks using her sewing machine, dad took care of the packaging and delivery, and my little sister modelled for my products. As a family, we stood together in the face of adversity. Little did I realize that a pastime will soon turn into my brand. Now, much after the pandemic, I continue to make scrunchies and masks all day, every day, selling them both online and offline.
To me, my brand is all about love and family. It knitted us even closer as a family. I couldn’t think of a better name for my brand than VAIGA, after my mother, the creator. Flowing ahead of time as the name connotes, she has a passion for creation and is an advocate for sustainability. Never one to burden the earth with trash of any kind, I am the daughter of VAIGA. We believe that every small act can help transform this world and VAIGA stands as a symbol of change.
